Hike to

The Baumes ridge

For the 360° view

There are places where the landscape is enough for itself! The crest of Baumes is one of these places where the fullness invites itself to your walk.
At the top, make a turn on yourself, in a direction then in the other, you will not regret in any case the few meters of altitude covered!

A walk

that is worth the detour

Nested between the resorts of Superdévoluy and La Joue du Loup, the Baume ridge reserves for those who reach it a 360° view of the entire massif. Halfway between the resorts, the spot overlooks the Collet du Tat.

At the top, the giants of the Dévoluy offer a striking spectacle. To the north, the Obiou opens the dance with to its left, an endless line of ridges up to Garnesier. To the south, the Bure peak, emblem of the massif, houses on its plateau on of the most powerful observatories in the northern hemisphere: NOEMA. To the east, the barrier formed by the Lieraver and Farraud mountains seems impassable. For proof, only the pass of Noyer allows to connect Le Dévoluy to Champsaur, between spring and autumn.
Just take a look also at the mountain of Saint Gicon, a real springboard that hides behind it, the lake of Sautet and the plain of Pellafol.

A landscape reading 100% “wow effect”!

To each

its own route

From the stations of Superdévoluy or La Joue du Loup, put on your walking shoes and follow the yellow markings, indicating the collet du Tat. A little more than a 100 meters vertical elevation will lead you to the collet where already, you will be able to enjoy a very beautiful panorama.

Look up, on your right from Superdévoluy, or on your left from La Joue du Loup, the crest of Baumes catches your attention. You will have to climb another hundred meters. These can be steeper depending on the route you choose… Don’t think too much, once you’re up there, you won’t want to come down anymore!

Living in the massif, I have to say that it is one of my favorite hikes ! Easy of access, it allows especially to have a beautiful point of view on all the Dévoluy. At sunset, the colors can be magical! Not to be missed, summer or winter. 😀
