Did you know that?
The Dévoluy is home to the most powerful interferometer in the Northern Hemisphere. On the plateau of Bure (at an altitude of 2,550m), twelve giant antennas with a diameter of fifteen meters offer you an unprecedented show, in a setting worthy of a science fiction film. Here, at the NOEMA observatory, works the team of the Institute of Millimeter Radio Astronomy (IRAM).
While the observatory is not a tourist attraction and therefore cannot be visited, the Plateau de Bure remains nevertheless accessible to a knowledgeable public, with several walking or ski touring.
